My Time Management Technique

We see many people around us who spend their time in a frenzy of activity but achieve very little because they are not concentrating on the right things. They are perpetually busy but it does not necessarily mean that they make optimum utilization of their time. So there is a great need for effective Time Management in our lives today. We keep hearing the word "Busy" a lot. There are two kinds of busy, chaotic, disorganized busy and calm effective busy. It goes without saying that being the latter helps to pack in more productivity in your work. Improving our "effectiveness Quotient" calls for mastery of basic time management skills. We constantly hear the refrain that we do not know where the time goes. Whether you are an executive, a student or a homemaker, you need to achieve more in every minute of the day and to enjoy each task that you take up. We will be well on our way to the top if we know how to squeeze the most out of even a minute. The first thing to bear in mind is to question whether you have a personal sense of time or a time log. This helps you to keep track of how you spend each hour. There is a way to do this. Divide each day for a period of two weeks into one hour intervals and jot down what you do in them. You can sub divide the activities under such headings as business meetings, writing, making phone calls, reading, time spent with the family etc. At the end of the week, examine your time log. What you may find is that very little time goes into top priority activities and more into activities such as phone calls, coffee breaks, chatting with friends etc. Now is the time to analyze what activities are a waste of time and what need more time. Try to cut down time spent on useless activities or stop doing them altogether. Once you have prioritized your time, you will find your efficiency level rising and the end result is that you will be an achiever!

21st Dec 2012, DoomsDay: a myth or a reality?

Last Month, Dec 2008, i had been to my home to pay a visit to my family. Every time i go home, i bring back something or the other. Need not be a thing or an object with physical existence. And this time, i bought back with me a good knowledge on the concept of what many historians refer to as the "Doomsday"; according to which, the world would end on 21st December 2012.
DoomsDay: A myth or a reality?
My first reaction to this was "bull***t"; a conventional mode of reception, of an uncanny, eldritch and irrational notion splattered at the cranial nerves of one's brain, waiting to be conducted to the five senses.."Oh! bulllllllll***@#$*@^#". Well! as i stand on my feet, a month after this knowledge, let me tell you one thing - there is something coming in our way. Whether we like it or not is another question all together. I would request you to take the best out of this journey; the journey through the pages of history, to reveal the inextricable blending between the myth and the reality.
Before we start off, let me take you through some background studies on one of the oldest Civilisation, the world has witnessed- The Mayan's. Do you know one thing: our present day forecasters still advert to the Mayan Calendar for the Solar Eclipse and Cosmic calamities because of the fact that they are 100% accurate, even to the minutest of a second. The Mayan Civilisation, existed in parts of South America. Well i don't want to drag through their civilisation aspects. But what you would be interested to know is about their calendar. They had three main calendar's namely:
  • Religious Calendar (with 13 weeks, each of 20 days - 260 days on a whole)
  • Solar Calendar (with 18 months, each of 20 days)
  • Long Count Calendar (the one that counts years as an never ending one)
The Long Count Calendar would be the one that we should look up to analyse, for the simple reason that it bought this theory of "DoomsDay" into our future. As per this calendar, there are no dates coming after 21st Dec 2012. "I know that you are not convinced yet, just because a slushy calendar told me that there is no date after 21st Dec2008 doesn't mean that i am a psycho believing in all these s***. Dude! I am on the wagon too!". But let me tell you, its too early to take a stand.
"Planetary placements"

Our Solar System

As you all might know, our Mother Earth is the third planet from sun, in the solar system. This aids in a favourable environment for life to thrive. But don't you think we are pretty close to a ball of flaming gas? Lets park that question for a while. You must have heard about the concept of centre of gravity- "Oh! yes, yes! balancing a book on a finger and stuffs like that..". Well our solar system also has got a centre of gravity. And as our school level physics theory goes, the centre of gravity will move closer to the heavier mass. Hmm... Earth is small and lighter, but what about Jupiter, dude? A simple revolution of Jupiter around the sun would be enough to intimidate sun to propel its fury of solar flakes and CME (Coronal Mass Ejection). Among these, the solar flakes will return back to sun, but the CME's would love to visit other members of the solar system. Well, then you could say that we have Saturn. Yes! if Jupiter and Saturn are on the either side of the sun, then the centre of gravity will reside within sun (which will now be in between the two larger planets)- minimal solar activity. Imagine the scenario, when these friends are on the same of the sun - extreme solar activity would be the result. Well the next time they coincide on the same side of the sun, would be on 21st December 2012. Gotcha! Two heavy mass planets on the same side of sun, extreme solar activity. "Dude! I can hear something ringing... oh! the bells, in u'r ear's buddy". Still i am not convinced, that might have occurred a couple of 1000 times until now, taking into account of 11.12 yrs. of revolutionary cycle of Jupiter.

"Our Galaxy - The Milky Way"

Our Galaxy - Milky Way
All of you know that Milky Way is the galaxy that we reside on... I hope there is no objection on that statement at least. Well we're located somewhere on the edge of the disc, slightly on top of the narrow disc. But very soon we'll be moving to the bottom of the disc. This change, from top to bottom, begins on December 21, 2012.
Yes, that's right. On the same day when our Sun is at it's solar maximum, something will happen that's never happened before -- the ecliptic of our solar system will intersect with the Galactic plane, called the "Galactic Equator" of the Milky Way!

If you imagine our solar system as a bunch of peas on a plate, with a huge meatball in the center, imagine the Milky Way as a city-size pizza with the "Guiness World Book Record Meatball" in its center!
Prior to December 2012 we have been drifting on the top of the pizza, never really able to see the bottom. The plate and pizza are not parallel. They are moving at different angles. We've been drifting down, down, down... and on December 21st, 2012, we will be exactly level with the crust -- forming an "x" at the Galactic Equator where galactic gravity is the strongest. After 2012, if we are still here, we will be passing through the bottom zone, viewing the Milky Way pizza from the South.
Yes, there's even more!

Change in the galactic center

By some amazing coincidence, not only will we be intersecting with the Galactic Equator, but we will be doing this precisely aligned with the center of the Galaxy where there is maximum mass! More mass means more gravity. More gravity means more influence from those barycentre's in our Sun. That means exponential increases in solar disruptions -- all coinciding on the same day! Whew!

Comments
What makes 2012 significant is that it coincides with the alignment of the center of the Milky Way galaxy, our sun, earth, and the large planets. If it was not for this fact I would say that 2012 was just another Y2K hoax. But the astronomy makes it believable.
It looks like this gravitational cosmic tsunami could cause the sun to scorch the earth. That means that the only immediate survivors would be people in the underground cities, caves, and submarines. However, even these people may not survive too long because such an event ( gravitational surges ) might bring on earth quakes and volcanic activity, flooding, and the such. These events might collapse underground cities and caves. Huge tidal floods might flood subways on the eastern seaboard.
However, if just a few did manage to survive. They would not be able to come out of their underground dwellings for some time, because the earth's protective magnetic shield may be gone.
If the upper atmosphere and the earth's atmosphere was able to repair itself say in even a short period of time of one year, the survivors would face a barren world. All surface vegetation and animal life will have been destroyed. The surface of earth might perhaps look like a barren planet. The only possible source of food for those few survivors might be the ocean. Plant life and sea life might survive this event to some small degree. However, there is one problem...more than likely all the plankton will die. They live at the surface of the water and will be destroyed by the radiation.
Plankton is the basic building block of life for many living organisms in the ocean. Plankton is the biggest generator of oxygen on the planet. With plankton gone and the forest gone, what is going to provide and create oxygen for the planet?
It doesn't look good for the few that survive 2012. It may very well be the end of the world. Unless, a greater power comes to rescue us. But are we worth it? Man is a miserable creature that kills and destroys himself and other living things.

Aackose Mentu Lal: The Name

"What co... lal?", exclaimed a guy, the very first time i introduced myself.
"Well! I am Aackose Mentu Lal and you would be ...?", I reverted.
"That is one hell of a thing i have ever heard in my life... I am ...", he promulgated.
"Ghe!... ", I gloated as if i won a war or so.
Hmm... thats how things go about with my name. This name will surely ring the wierdness bells in your mind. I don't blame you... Its quite innate... :) I guess. Well one thing for sure this guy turned out to be my best friend throughout my academic life. Let me drive you through the logical rationality behind this name being chosen for my human body.
I was born as the eldest son to a small, middle class family settled in Kochi(Kerala, India). My dad is a lawyer practising at High Court Of Kerala while my mom, though an MSW degree holder, decorated the homemakers post... donno why... But lemme tell you one thing... my dad was an intellectual in the making, leaving with him a cognitive and profounded knowledge arsenal which even i could not manage in 20 years down the line.
As far as my name was concerned, he really wanted it to be unique, rarified and be first in class attendance always...Hell Noooooo... But there was a restriction on the cards for him. According to our christian tradition ... by the way i am a christian but not biased to any religion, I consider all gods same and all people equal and dont wanna spur a communal riot or something... so according to our traditions, i was supposed to have the name of my grandfather .Oh boy! what kinda of eldritch rule was that... god knows... anyways... my grand dads name was Kuriackose. Now thats called a name by friend... in Kerala. Dad recollected... first in class, rare name, grandfathers name... Hmm he must have had a hell of a time with this. All his LKG, UKG class lessons must have started playing mind games with him. hmm... letters floating around... jumbled words, scramblers... donno whether he had played these games.... sounded celestial to me.. Kuriackose, mathematically speaking can have 10! possible combinations in the world of Permutations and Combinations in Mathematics, if i am not mistaken. Oh my god... was he practically skinning my grandad alive... Finally after the end of this feisty Word War with his conscience, he decided to cut my grandads name into two. That left him with a 50% chance to find the name for me, erp... probability theory, mathematics.. Kuri & ackose .
Well to be first in the class a name should surely start with "a", rite.... Well akuri was wierd... sounded like chineese i guess..Aguri or so, however aackose wasn't... well atleast that was how he felt it. Frankly speaking... if i was able to speak some english, i would have asked him for the definition of the word "wierd"... unfortunately, i was wrapped in a white cotton cloth, lying by my mother...hands held like a prisoner... thankfully not cuffed... and with a small window opening near the face... allowing me to enjoy the white ladies in the room...oops... Well either way... i was destined to be "Aackose"- the great... as in "Alexander -the great"... hehe!!
The middle name was taken from the ancient Greek history books - a Greek god of War... Did i kick him the first time saw him..? Donno... either way... War became a part of my life... and Mentu, the Greek God Of War was reborn from the ashes... after centuries... i guess.. To prove my relationship with my dad and mom... i believe... he had to append "Lal" to the end of my name.... my dads and by default, my mom name had "Lal" at the end...... Hmm... Aackose Mentu Lal... not bad eh!... "Holy!..." i am a dead man... wait until i enter my school.
I even had thoughts of changing my name during the later period of life... but my insights told me not to do so. My Grandpa, my dad, my mom, my younger bro... just 1 1/2 yrs. younger.... and all my relatives...they all loved me far more than anyone... I can never tolerate any tears in their eyes... i finally decided not to change my name, my identity... oops! not the one that you were thinking.. just my name... :)

And thats how Aackose Mentu Lal, became a part of this world.
